A unique opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join a highly successful tech consultancy in Cambridge within the role of Mechanical Design Consultant. Location: Cambridge – village location just outside, easily accessible by train and car
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum + excellent benefits
Requirements for Mechanical Design Consultant:
- Degree educated from an internationally renowned University in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline
- Commercial experience in a similar role
- Experience with 3D CAD packages, preferably Cleo
- Strong knowledge of EMC protection principles and RF Isolation
- Strong knowledge of thermal control for electronics, using active and passive methods
- Experience in corrosion prevention and protection strategies
- Good understanding of the design for assembly and both low and high-volume manufacturing processes
- Fantastic communication skills
Responsibilities for Mechanical Design Consultant:
- Participate in the projects (incl. providing input into the project proposals and creating design schemes and concepts)
- Offer guidance and mentorship to the team and wider business
- Present innovative designs using PTC Creo 3D CAD or Solidworks
- Build prototypes and complete pre-certification testing of elements (e.g. ingress protection sealing, mechanical integrity and thermal management)
- Provide input into manufacturing data packs
- Lead design reviews and provide technical support in the client meetings
- Produce technical reports
- Travel within the UK and occasionally overseas
